On the occasion of this solo exhibition, presented at the Maurice Verbaet Gallery in Knokke from August 2 to October 13, 2019, a remarkable overview of the work of Pierre Célice (1932–2019) was offered. Taking place shortly after the artist’s passing, the exhibition also served as a tribute to his life and artistic legacy.

Through a carefully selected group of works, Célice’s artistic trajectory was brought to light: from his gradual departure from figuration to his mature, refined abstract compositions. His work, constructed through a subtle interplay of lines and fields of color, reflects an ongoing search for balance, rhythm, and essence.

The presentation in Knokke not only highlighted the consistency and sensitivity of his visual language, but also underscored the intensity of his artistic journey, marked by reflection, doubt, and renewal. In doing so, the exhibition offered an intimate and clear insight into the oeuvre of an artist who followed his own path and remained faithful to his vision throughout his life.
