Brafa Art Fair
Sculptural works complemented the presentation, emphasizing material and spatial concerns across the selection.
At BRAFA 2022, we presented a selection of works spanning the late 19th to the late 20th century, bringing together paintings, works on paper and sculptures in a focused overview of Belgian and European artistic practices.
The presentation placed emphasis on early 20th-century graphic work, notably a group of woodcuts by Jozef Cantré and a series of drawings from Il giardino della volutta by Charles Doudelet, highlighting the significance of printmaking and illustration in this period.
Alongside these, works by artists such as Gaston Bertrand, René Guiette, Walter Leblanc and Jef Verheyen explored different approaches to abstraction, while figures including Jan Cox, Antoine Mortier and Floris Jespers reflected ongoing engagement with figuration.
