At Art Brussels 2003, the Maurice Verbaet Gallery presented a booth entirely dedicated to the work of Tapta, offering a focused and immersive introduction to her singular artistic practice. At a time when her work had not yet received the widespread international recognition it holds today, this presentation underscored the gallery’s early and sustained commitment to her oeuvre.

The booth brought together a selection of works that highlighted Tapta’s innovative approach to sculpture, in which textile and industrial materials are transformed into spatial, flexible forms. Her practice, situated at the intersection of tapestry, sculpture, and installation, challenged traditional hierarchies of medium and expanded the possibilities of post-war artistic expression.

During the fair, the gallery also organized a book signing event dedicated to Tapta, bringing together three of the publication’s authors—Liesbeth Decan, Virginie Mamet, and Michel Baudson. This moment of exchange further enriched the presentation, reinforcing its scholarly dimension and offering visitors the opportunity to engage more deeply with the research surrounding the artist’s work.
